Funding Partners

Silvus Technologies has been funded through the National Science Foundation's and the Department of the Navy's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Programs. SBIR provides funding for the development of innovative advances in technology developed by small firms that have the courage the drive, and flexibility to assume risks - the "best of the best" The primary objective of the NSF SBIR Programs is to increase the incentive and opportunity for small firms to undertake cutting-edge, high risk, high quality scientific, engineering that will have a high potential economic payoff if the research is successful.

National Science Foundation

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency created by Congress in 1950 "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense..." With an annual budget of about $6.06 billion, we are the funding source for approximately 20 percent of all federally supported basic research conducted by America's colleges and universities. In many fields such as mathematics, computer science and the social sciences, NSF is the major source of federal backing.

Office of Naval Research (ONR)

The ONR SBIR program is an integral part of the Naval Science and Technology program. ONR SBIR topics address naval needs and should ultimately transition to the fleet through enabling technologies for future naval capabilities or directly to naval acquisition programs. Topics are derived from ONR Program Officers via periodic calls which are issued by the ONR SBIR Program Manager to the ONR Department Heads. ONR SBIR topics are published and solicited with those of other Naval components in the Department of Defense SBIR Program Solicitations. Qualified small businesses may submit proposals for these topics which are then competitively evaluated by ONR Program Officers. Awards are made to the best proposing companies within allotted funding.
