MIMO Radios Theory of Operation
Silvus Technologies launches the SC2000 family of radio platforms that guarantee connectivity in challenging propagation and mission environments. Leveraging 20 man years of effort in developing breakthrough MIMO (multi input multi output) capabilities, the company has developed the most advanced radio solution for high speed MANET - Mobile Ad-Hoc Networking and other communications in the extreme. Silvus' dominant position as the premier provider of MIMO solutions for military applications was reinforced when the company was chosen by DARPA as the sole performer on the DARPA MNM Phase 2/3 program.
The MIMO capability of the SC2000 expands the signaling domain by exploiting the spatial dependencies of radio wave propagation. The result is a wireless communications solution that is highly versatile and thrives in multipath rich, NLOS environments. Silvus' solution provides 300+ modes of operation covering data rates form 1.5 Mbps to 150 Mbps and everything in between. This level of flexibility allows the system to adapt to a host of environments and deliver mission critical communications.
The Silvus SC2000 includes every functional block inside the dotted boundary. The user can substitute a customized RF front end. The SC2000 is a complete radio module comprising of antenna, RF transceiver, a complete packet-based baseband processing engine, and a robust and intuitive API. It is ideal for networking applications, as the radio unit can be commanded by any MAC (medium access control) protocol. The user (or user program) can dictate radio parameters on a per-packet basis. With 300+ operating modes to choose from the SC2000 platform is the only radio solution that puts per packet reconfigurability in the hands of the user. Other radio platforms provide at best a hand full of modes.
This richness of modes is realized through the manipulation of 10 individual parameters each of which can take on a range of values.
